Amanda Stetson smiled as she crept silently up behind her unsuspecting husband. Lee peered out the front window of their home. "Whatcha see?" she whispered in his ear before jumping back.

Startled, Lee whipped around quickly. "Uh... one of the slats was bent so I was checking it out," he stated none-too-convincingly, indicating the offending blinds as evidence. "It's fixed."

"Hmm... I think you bent it one of the other three times you've peeked out that window in the last fifteen minutes," Amanda stated innocently.

Moving his gaze between his wife and the window, Lee shrugged his shoulders in resignation.

"All that time I spent training you as a spy is coming back to haunt me," he grumbled. "You're supposed to be using it on the bad guys, not your husband."

"Oh, but they never look so cute when they get caught," she teased, kissing his cheek.

Lee attempted to frown, but failed. "Are you trying to tell me you're not the least bit anxious?"

"Of course I am. I never get to sleep before everyone's home safe, but both Jenny and Chase are responsible, good kids. I trust them to be here by midnight. You're acting like you did the first time Jenny went on a date."

Lee groused, "But this is different. She's always double-dated before."

Amanda crossed her arms and regarded him sternly. "Lee Stetson, are you saying you don't trust your own daughter?"

"No, I'm saying I don't trust any teenage boy with hormones... especially when my beautiful daughter is involved. I'm sure a lot of the girls I dated had their father's trust but..." He stopped quickly.

"But they were no match for your charm?" Amanda finished knowingly.

"Something like that," he muttered, wondering if his past was ever going to leave him alone.

"Well, let me remind you that your 'beautiful daughter' is also my daughter," Amanda stated, moving closer to her husband.

"And...?" Lee asked cautiously.

"And... her mother is one daughter who kept her father's trust when dating you and I passed my 'keeping charming men in line' genes on to her," Amanda stated matter-of-factly as she took the front of Lee's shirt and pulled him to her.

Lee smiled despite himself and drew her close. "That you did. Your old man would have been proud."

Wrapping her arms around his neck, Amanda whispered, "You know... right now we are the only ones home... so how about joining me upstairs... for some ol' married people's activity."

Lee watched in surprise as she moved towards the stairs. "Now?"

"Of course," she teased. "And if we turn out the lights, we can see their car coming at least half a mile sooner from our bedroom."

Lee's reply caught in his throat when he recognized something in his wife's expression. He'd wised up long ago and learned to benefit from those twinkling eyes. As he climbed the stairs he grumbled, "Up 'til now I've been watching the way guys look at my daughter. Think I better start checking out how she's looking at them." Lee caught up with Amanda in the doorway to their bedroom. He wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her close, gazing down at her with a grin. "She's old enough to date but not to twinkle."
