With my head hung in shame, I must admit to a few errors when I wrote "Passing the Torch" last year. This was not entirely my fault, however, and my highly-paid, professional research staff has been fired. It also helped that A & E started showing The Equalizer this year.
The biggest problem was with the history we gave to Robert McCall. With many apologies to fans of The Equalizer, here is the corrected version of his life.
(The Equalizer)
(Edward Woodward)
Robert Scott McCall was born on July 24, 1935 in Devonshire, England. His mother was an American entertainer, (thus we know McCall was half American and an American citizen. That clarifies why he was working for the U.S. government.) who died while Robert was quite young (unspecified age). He was at boarding school and was not allowed to come home to be with her when she died.
Robert's father worked for the English military, apparently in the intelligence area. He was almost never home. McCall harbored a great deal of hostility toward his father, but ended up becomming just like him.
For the rest of the "Cousins" Universe, the history is the same as presented. While in college, Robert met Matthew Stetson and was recruited into the Company. Then later, he met Kay Michaels and the rest is history... well, cousin history at least.
We've also added a new cousin this year. You can add Dinh Nguyen-Michaels to the family history.
Dinh (pronounced Deen) Nguyen was born on August 13, 1968, Saigon, South Vietnam. His father is Steven Michaels, who did not know he had a son until many years later. Dinh's mother Ninh was a teenage prostitute who was living with Steven while he was stationed in Vietnam. She died of TB when Dinh was 4 years old. He lived in an orphanage in Saigon until it was evacuated to the U.S. in 1975. For more info, read "Nephew" in this issue.
Some other original cousin characters have been cast. Check the Cast of Characters for a complete list, but for your information, here are the new additions.
(Totally Made Up)
(Dee Wallace)
* This is Steven's wife.
